Bolsover Assembly Hall
This project involved the refurbishment and extension of an existing community centre in the centre of Bolsover in Derbyshire, in a conservation area and in sight of the grade 1 listed Bolsover Castle The project is funded by the Millennium Commission, SRB, EMDA and the Coalfield Regeneration Trust, and is one of a small number of projects forming part of the Coalfield Community Landmarks development programme. The scheme involves the complete renovation of the existing stone buildings [ formerly a Methodist chapel and associated annexes ], and substantial extensions including a planar glazed entrance foyer including a bar, catering standard kitchen and café area, and a new community hall for the use of elderly persons. The existing main hall will be refurbished to provide a sophisticated multi-purpose space with a demountable stage, with curtaining and stage lighting.
